Gentrificación, turistificación y hogares. El caso Centro Histórico y el SOHO malagueños (España)
Abstract
The municipality of Málaga is undergoing processes of gentrification and touristicification, particularly traceable in its central nucleus (Historical Center and SOHO). These processes affect not only the volume of the resident population in these neighborhoods but also the number and type of households that this population comprises. Using data obtained from the Municipal Register of Inhabitants, we demonstrate how the number of residents has been experiencing a systematic decline, in a dynamic contrary to that of the municipality as a whole. In contrast, the number of households has increased during our study period, albeit simultaneously, there has been a reduction in the number of larger households and an increase in smaller ones, especially single-person and two-person households.
